About Us
Gugubarra Dreaming is a celebration of culture, art, and connection, brought to life by proud Wiradjuri woman Simone Press. Born and raised in Orange, NSW, Simone now resides on the beautiful Gold Coast on Kombumerri Country. Gugubarra Dreaming was created to carry on her personal story and legacy, as well as that of her late mother, Joanne Reid, an incredible Aboriginal artist known and loved within the community.
Our Story
Simone began her painting journey in 2011, inspired by the stories and artistic influence of her mother. After her mother’s passing, Simone felt a deep calling to continue sharing the stories and connection they both held close. Through her art, Simone channels her heritage and her mother’s influence, transforming these connections into wearable pieces of storytelling. Every design in Gugubarra Dreaming’s collection is painted and designed by Simone, reflecting not just her artistic vision but the rich cultural heritage of the Wiradjuri people.
“Each item is personally made and inspired by myself, carrying many stories.”
From the Gandhalwurr (Turtle Dreaming), to Dinawan (Emu Dreaming), Gadi (Snake Dreaming), Garrbaa (Boomerang Dreaming), Gadhang (Ocean Dreaming) and more, each piece of clothing tells a story rooted in Indigenous knowledge, wisdom, and the natural world. Simone's work brings these stories to life, allowing you to wear and share in the connection.
Our Vision
Gugubarra Dreaming’s vision is to preserve and pass down cultural stories through art, honoring the beauty and strength of Indigenous heritage. Our clothing is not just a product; it is an experience of connection, tradition, and respect for the stories of the land and its people.
Our Commitment
We are committed to creating sustainably and ethically produced garments that honor both the environment and the cultural significance of each design. By choosing Gugubarra Dreaming, you are supporting Indigenous art, tradition, and the legacy of storytelling through fashion.
